About the Event

The Australian Lebanese Medical Association, in collaboration with Cancer Council Victoria, would like to invite you to our National Arabic Bowel Cancer Screening Launch Event on Thursday 2 May at 11:00am (Cancer Council Victoria, Level 3, 615 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne).

This initiative follows new data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare that indicates that Arabic-speaking Australians aged 50 – 74 are less likely to complete the Government’s free bowel cancer screening test when it is sent to their home. Bowel cancer is Australia’s second biggest cancer killer. Yet, 90% of bowel cancers can be successfully treated if found early.

This event will be attended by the Lebanese Consul General Mr Ziad Itani, the Australian Lebanese Medical Association, Arabic-speaking medical doctors, and religious and community leaders from the Arabic-speaking community and media.

Your attendance at this important community launch will be valuable in promoting our message and ensuring a successful campaign. To assist in planning for a great day, we look forward to receiving information regarding your availability.
